As of today Facebook released a very helpful feature for publishers – setting a custom default time zone. The real value here isn’t necessarily setting the time zone the same as where the publisher is located, but setting the time zone the same as whatever network you’re pushing leads to. Finally revenue and spend can match up the same for each day.

Since facebook is a necessary part of my working day, I noticed almost immediately when their pages wouldn’t load.

At first, I thought it was my internet connection, but when I checked all other websites, as well as my skype connection, I realized facebook was down.

This is easily the longest and most widespread I’ve ever seen the service down before, which leaves me wondering if it was an attack.

Today Facebook made a very strange change to their ad ordering system. It used to be where a user would have to review and name their ad prior to actually ordering the ad and submitting it for review. Now, a user can skip the ad review step all together and just place the order right from the ad creation screen (see below). A change like this makes me wonder whether facebook really has any clue about publishers’ needs. Any experienced publisher spending lots of money on facebook has their own ad naming conventions, and upon skipping the ad review screen, the default name is set to whatever the title of the ad is. Strange play, Facebook.

Not unlike the infamous Google slap, last week facebook sent a massive email campaign warning publishers that rank very poorly in their ad system in terms of quality. Luckily for us we weren’t in that category, but check out this scary email facebook sent out to their pubs.

Many believe that this auto generated email was a bot that rotated ip’s and mass complained about everyone’s facebook ads. Regardless, better keep your ads clean!

Ever since facebook released its new ad manager interface, one of the changes they’ve made has particularly impacted my use of it; the ability to make bulk changes to ads and campaigns.

It’s easy to do, just put a check by each ad/campaign you wish to edit, and hit the “Edit” button.

From here, just edit one of the ads/campaigns to a set status or budget, and click the small double arrow.

All of the changes will be implemented on everything being edited.

In case you haven’t noticed, Ask.com has nearly doubled their traffic over the past couple months, making now a great time to jump into their advertiser network and get cheaper traffic.

Ask.com provides fully managed advertising services to enterprise level accounts. We’ve worked directly with them and were pleased with their responsiveness to our questions.

Overall the traffic quality and conversions mimic that of Google. IAC’s enormous toolbar and application reach continue to drive higher converting traffic to other legitimate toolbar offers and affiliate downloads. Precise targeting allows you to zone in your most profitable demographics.

If you’d like us to introduce you to our account rep, or have us manage your Ask.com initiatives, please use the contact form to quickly get the ball rolling.

Clickbooth first posted about their new 12+ Acre Multi-Building Business Park acquisition on their blog just after New Years. We’ve learned the construction crew is on schedule to have the buildings ready to move into by the end of this month.

Check out the video CB recently posted on their Youtube channel

Many people in the industry speculate if ClickBooth may be second guessing their decision to make such a gigantic purchase amid a financial tightening in the affiliate industry and excessive margin pressures.

FireCyde’s experiences with ClickBooth have been so good that I imagine their business is doing just fine. Customer service still wins. Reliable payments and scale are still not present across many networks. They are getting more business despite the industry crunch because they consistently deliver to both advertisers and publishers.

I can’t wait to see what the finished renovations look like. I hope our Affiliate Manager gets a window office (good luck BK).
